Foods 2: Nutrition
Students in Foods 2 will focus on the importance of nutrition and making healty lifestyle choices. You will learn how to maintain a healthy diet and how to keep your body in good repair through the use of individual nutrients. We will discuss how your body uses various nutrients, burns calories, and builds fat, as well as how to prepare healthful foods. Choose MyPlate will be introduced, as will the processes of digestion and absorption of various, essential nutrients, and how each food group plays an essential role in health. There will also be a few opportunites to sample foods and create nutritionally sound dishes in a lab setting. Twelfth grade only: you will have the opportunity to earn ½ math credit for this course through the successful mastery of math concepts that are embedded throughout the course.
